Here's my thought... One of the problem with this movie is that the category is more like a thriller and drama than horror. It didn't meet my expectation. But you know what, this one is on me.
The second problem is that this movie took a long time to build up the suspense. Very slow paced. I guess it's a way to introduce us about the characters, but wayyy too slow.. It hit me a bit when it revealed it wasn't about domestic abuse but "SPOILER". I do like the part where protagonist fought back and claim victory.
On top of that, the movie didn't end with a unsatisfied ending. I'm glad.
Acting was pretty good, I do enjoy James McAvoy plays a POS and his raging personality.
I guess the third problem I have with this movie is, well, I was expecting some jump scares, but it was just loud bangs. A personal let down.
I didn't watch the 2022 version so I can't make a comparison on this.
Final problem... It's Blum House. Yes, I start having trust issues with Blum House now. I feel like any horror genre movies produced by Blum House would be *@#$. There are some good ones I do enjoy, but most other ones were a big let down. Let's be honest here, Blum house movies are getting worse every single year, and I feel like they are moving way from true horror films and fall in love with anticlimactic mediocre thrillers. Yes, not horror, thrillers.
I gotta say, they do make really good trailers. Gave me a good reason to give it a chance. But damn it Blum House, you love giving me blue balls do you?
I understand everyone has different tastes on different movies, but I'm seeking for true thrill from watching horror movies, not disappointments. You don't believe me? Halloween Ends, MA, Imaginary, M3gan was a fun watch so I can't give it crap, but it's definitely not horror. Any how, Blum House, do better?
