This movie was GREAT! Do not listen to the critics! This movie makes a rational commentary on our times even though the story takes place in 1962. The movie moves along a very good pace and is NOT predictable as many have said. The characters are interesting and we care what happens to them. In the final scene we see that their futures are going to be joyful as personal connections have been made between black and white Americans in a way that we should aim for today. There is one poignant scene regarding homosexuality though. The scene is not salacious but is very relevant to understanding one of the characters. Oscar performances from the two main characters. I don't have faith in the Academy anymore though so i am awarding the my own Oscar to this movie for: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting actor, best costume.
