Just got back from watching this in the theater, and it blew me away. I have never seen anything, and I mean anything, this colorful since I saw Star Wars for the first time. Upon knowing Sony Pictures Animation collaborated, they certainly made a hop, swing, and a leap in their creativity A-game. Instead of settling for strictly 3D, they used a mix of traditional half-tone effects straight from the page, 2D animation, and abstract design that makes everything pop. The fact that the main character was part African American and Latin American not only fulfills Stan Lee's motto for Marvel as a company to be culturally relevant but also is empowering for both African American and Latin American demographics in the United States, kind of like what Black Panther did with the African American population. Characters, including Miles Morales, were faithful with their comic counterparts, yet they could have done a teeny tiny bit more with some other Spider-people and creatures from the Spider-Verse comics. But who am I to complain, it's colorful, doesn't pander or look down on kids, and is a great film for the whole family.
