I agree with a lot of 1 star reviewers. This book was way too hyped up. I don’t think the author has actually any experience with real abuse because this book is all about it, but at such a superficial level, yet exaggerated way. Sadistic in that this book is misery/pain porn with a bit of outrage culture in how it expects its readers to feel. Nothing realistic about it. Characters are strange. I don’t really like them or hate them. Indifference is probably not what you want your readers to feel. There is something missing from the story and its characters. I can only describe it as like they are basic caricatures. It’s too basic in that, the good guy is a perfect good guy, the victim is a perfect victim, the bad guys are perfect bad guys, there is no other elements / dimension to them. Sorry to the author.
