One of- if not the greatest, horror movie of all time. Is it iconic (Frankenstein, Werewolf, Vampire) maybe not... but does it reference those iconic stories? Yes. This is the horror movie of horror movies, explaining all of the 'horrible' horror movie tropes & cliches we're used to viewing: Young adults in a remote area, stranded- can't escape, nudity and sex, blood and gore. This gives an explanation to why we always see these things- to provide a valid offering to the 'old gods'. And when a movie doesn't do these things, people don't like the horror movie... the 'old gods' are not pleased, and the movie (the world) is destroyed by bad ratings (or fire and brimstone). One of the most fresh, original horror movies you can watch. Highly recommend it- if you're a fan of the genre.
