Dionysia Ex

Ant-Man has never been the most exciting branch of the MCU and that continues here with the third Amt-Man movie. The story is routine and the overwhelming majority of the action has been drawn in a computer by ten thousand technicians which gives the film a very sterile feeling. The jokes are dull if quite regular but, by now, this formulaic approach to movie making has worn thin and nothing about Ant-Man can save the viewer from realising this as they watch. The best I can say about this film is that it just about does its job of being something that passes two hours of your life without being terrible. But you'll never need to watch it again and, having watched it, you'll carry on with your life as if nothing had happened.

The vast majority of the plot of this film is baggy. Each scene is twice as long as it needs to be. The story itself barely makes sense but it doesn't matter because the entire point of this film is to give Daniel Craig a heroic send off. That it actually does fairly well and the last 20 minutes of the film are by far the best. But by then the damage is already done. The bad guy in this film is insubstantial and pointless. He is killed off at the end with barely a mention. In fact, the first two hours of this film's extravagant runtime was a waste of time. I'm a Bond fan and know most of the Bond films off by heart. But I think that what films like this prove is that Bond has had a good run but now his time is done.
