Guide for Meetings and Organizations by N E Renton is widely used and taught throughout NZ. Does Parliament also use this publication as well as Robert's Rules for parliamentary procedure which is statutorily overseen by the Speaker. Our local City Council is severely in need of a guide to meeting procedure. If each Tauranga Councillor had been given a copy of either publication as compulsory reading before attending a meeting this would currently have saved the $350,000 they are now setting aside to teach themselves good manners, having failed the prior costly conference. They have all read the Code of Conduct which has been rewritten to simplify things for them. It is time they merely listened to ratepayers and reflected the wishes of the people they purport to represent - in particular the current request to resign.
