A must watch. If I could describe this film with key words it would be thrilling, emotional, hard-hitting, action filled, rollercoaster. I wont be getting into spoilers for the film. But the film as a whole is perfectly summed up in those key words I detailed, you wont be able to take your eyes off the screen for the aprox 105-110 minute watch time (with 10-15 minuet credits at the end of the film and there is no post or pre credit scenes for any readers wondering).
The film does have its issues - the pacing could be a literal choppy, the overall dialogue may be hard to hear during some stages of the film (especially if a viewer has difficulties understanding a scottish accent) and some key aspects of the film are brushed over/not spent on long enough , forget about or overall could feel a little rushed at times, but for a end of the world thriller this may not be a issue for some viewers due to the high stakes the film sets out within the first 30-45 minuets of the film.
The characters in the film are wrote fantastically, yes there is some issues with some characters but that overall comes into the pacing and the direction of the film, some p roles are portrayed perfectly in the film by Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Scott Glenn, David Denman and even for the child actor by the name of Roger Dale Floyd (famous for his role and what I recognised him Doctor Sleep) who plays the son of Gerard's (portraying a structural engineer named John) and Morena (portraying his mother Alisson) even out in a fantastic performance for how a child would be acting during the whole scenario - not discrediting any acting by any of the other actors/actresses , all put in a fantastic job and I only had little complaints with some casting/portrays of certain characters. The overall score/music used in the film fits the film perfectly and is very moving during some scenes of the movie. Special effects in this film are also decent and I don't have complaints about that either, viewer would definitely be able to see though some scenes of special effects The cinematography is also very good, some beautiful close up shots, wide shots and shots at the end of film especially are gorgeous and overall the cinematography used in the film makes the user feel like they are with the main characters of John, Allison & Nathan.
Overall - for any user reading this review I highly recommend this film as a must watch , like right now! Overall I gave this film 4 stars but if I was to give it a ranking it’ll probably be at a 8/10. Why it isn’t a 10/10 or a 5 star film is because of the pacing issues the film has throughout and I feel this film could be longer to show the overall effects or aftermath of the event which happens to the planet, also the acting by a small SMALL minority of characters effects the score too. Thank you for reading.
