This science fiction tale was a surprisingly fun read for a summertime diversion. The story line never falters; never slows down or gets lost. Rather it is always interesting as it develops. Also, as someone familiar with science, it is apparent that the author took great care to make the science behind events as realistic as possible! It is almost like he has imagined his story, and then tried to see how it would unfold if it was reality and if it conformed to actual scientific possibilities. If you are someone who knows astronomy or the science of space travel, look for this as you follow the story line. Also apparent is that the author drew as much as possible from his own experience to lend authenticity. He has been in a war so has that to lend to realism. He is from French ethnicity and has been to Japan.both experiences played out in the book. You will see that the timelines play out logically. In short--this light fiction is saying <what if>----what if it really happened 1K years in the future; then THIS is one true version of what that might look like!
