The matriarch is imperfect, but so very interesting. Yes she’s overbearing. Yes she sometimes fails her kids, but she’s human. The way she felt bad asking her younger daughter to read her manuscript and keep it from the other kids and went to fix it as soon as they talked showed that she could listen and learn.
Interesting family. It’s difficult and complicated to navigate these changes and religious divides, but it’s clearly done with love.
