I’m 20 hours in...and yet it has only been a day an a half since I got it. Whether a new or veteran fan, this game is very good. The original had a charm to it that couldn’t really match any other game and I was worried this game was going to toss it aside for something new. Well, a bit of both happened. There are Whispers that look like Dementors from Harry Potter, which are not in the original game, perhaps upsetting the hardcore theorists. However, in my opinion, I easily forgave the confusion for the enhanced characters, voice work, graphics, music, battle system and story being retold with a different approach. Though it has been approached in a questionable way, things are different for the better, and you may perhaps find yourself looking back on the original where it all started. The original and the remake have their flaws, but achieved great things in both works. I look forward to what comes next for the series, and I hope to share VII with my friends once the quarantine allows me to do so. I rate it a 4.5 out of 5

The lighting and choreography were both lively and kinetic, but that’s about all the ups for me. After that, it is more oriented towards a kids audience. The vocals were shaky, the comedy was meh, and makeup (if you can even call it that,) should have been better. The CGI outfits also restricted movement, so it could have been more lively had the outfitting stayed true to the iconic Broadway attire. It had massive potential and it didn’t follow up. I’m not saying that it’s horrible, but in a sense, it’s not great either. My favorite number was The Railway Cat. I just wish the entire product had the same movement and appreciation, because it was lacking for rest of the film. If you want to get your kids into the musical in a watered down fashion, here you go. At least it will get them excited to see the musical live if and when they ever get the chance to.

I see a lot of reviews complaining about the series being in 3D instead of 2D, but I honestly like it and the premise of the show. The animation is clean, the story sounds interesting, and our main character is literally forced into a role he never asked for while unhappily commenting on it a couple times (which I find quite hilarious). The voice actors fit their roles well and are great with their tone and delivery. The action is entertaining and have their own little flare, despite lasting a minute or two. The only gripe I have is the pacing and time jumps were a bit hard to keep up with. One minute our main character is being accepted as an apprentice, the next he’s in a tournament flashing back to moments of training we never saw. Aside from the obvious pacing issue, I find the show quite amusing and worth at least one watch. I give it a 6/10.

This movie still holds up to date. I was sitting in front of the screen thinking I was going to get something that was so bull crazy that I wouldn’t be able to keep up. But I was surprised to see this movie stuck so close to the gothic filters and atmosphere of the comics. There are certain points from the source material tweaked here and there, but they are done so well I prefer this over reading it. It is well paced and even throws a curveball twist near the end that no viewer could see coming. Brandon Lee is fantastic as The Crow and keeps you glued to the screen with every move and word he says. His dedication to the part was very admirable. (May he Rest In Peace.) The music fits the feeling of vengeance being fed and experienced as a viewer, complimenting both the colors and Eric Draven past as a musician. That being said, this movie is very well acted, dark, thrilling, sad, and deserving of more attention.
