I’m stuck between giving this book 3 or 4 stars because while the writing is good, the way the book is written is frustrating. Switching back and forth from past to present every chapter it seems like, doesn’t give the reader a chance to fully enjoy the relationship brewing between Addie and Henry. It feels like it takes FOREVER for this relationship to build because it switches back to chapters of the past that truly could’ve been left out, like some chapters seemed so pointless. It starts getting good around page 134 and then it’s taken away from you to just get lost in the past again. It would have been an easier read if it didn’t switch back and forth so frequently and gave us more than a chapter or two at a time to enjoy watching their relationship grow.
