I grew up on the original and my brother even had a shop called Island Hopper Safari and Tours... On an Island!!! Because of the show.... BUT as with a lot of shows that we really liked back then... Like Chips and Magnum and the A-Team... When we watch them again, we find them quaint, full of bad, scripted acting and just not as good as we thought we remembered... Some rare shows like MASH are just as good 20 years later... But they are very few... Like with music. Some of the old stuff just doesn't translate well. I LOVE the new take. Higgins is a total fox but also a bad-ass secret agent. Magnum is a who cares kind of guy, just like in the original. The chemistry between the three main buddies is even better. Rick isn't as shifty. And T.C. has a lot more lines. And we see a lot more of both of them... And the FERRARI !!! So much nicer... There isn't that much that is bad. And there is a lot that is good... So for the Nostalgia enthusiasts.. Just enjoy it. Its new, not the same, but its still plenty good and it kept just the right amount of the old magic...
