This is an example of a film that provokes a strong emotional reaction. Brilliant in its pioneering and innovative filmmaking techniques; sadly flawed by its blatant pro-confederacy, pro-racism agenda. Not based on historical sources, but a series of fictional works noted as 'a romance of the Ku Klux Klan'. The first half can be appreciated for its achievements in filmmaking; the second half will most likely disgust modern audiences. This is an important work to remind us not only of how we can change; but also of the dangers of seeing an historical film as fact. Treat this film with caution
