This review is only for the 7 seasons of the original show. NOT the decade-post revival, a year in the life.
I first watched this series when I was a teenager myself. And it resonated with me on so many levels even though I'm not an American. The situations , emotions, feelings are so real, portraying the deep flaws you see in real people. It was truly a coming of age piece with beautiful characters who make big mistakes, but also work hard on improving themselves and the world around them. Pure grit and golden hearts.
I watched the show again now, way into my 30s, and it was every bit as delightful as it was the first time. And I realized that so many of my small "words to live life by" were inspired from the scenes and situations in this very series.
It is heartwarming and makes you feel like you are a part of their lives too. It is relatable and so real, even when it is exaggerated or unbelievably wrong. The jokes are funny, the emotions are moving. Every scene is written with so much care and purpose, working towards something - portraying the reality of the world and how people would feel, living in that time and growing up in that reality.
And despite large volumes of content today, which we watch & forget, or never watch again even if we loved it, Gilmore girls remains a series you would want to watch again and again - even with its grainy resolution and sometimes unclear audio - like the old classic movies the girls would watch over and over again on their tiny box TV. It's the epitome of nostlagia.
