Scorsese is at his best here as are DeNiro, Pacino and Pesci. In fact there are great turns by at least a dozen or more actors. From Romano, Keitel, Cannavale, Paquin etc etc
This is a masterpiece, case closed. Scorsese takes us through his multi-layered last homage to the classic gangster movie, with hints of the humor from earlier movies like Goodfellas and Casino but the main points here for DeNiro’s Frank “The Irishman “ Sheeran are about guilt, regret and mortality. This classic is over three hours long but never feels it. If this is the end of the classic mob movie genre, ( I certainly hope not) it’s going out on top. Should be no shortage of Oscars here or at least nominations and justly deserved.
