The book’s “fantasy” categorization almost put me off, but upon a strong recommendation from my son, I dug in. In the exploration I found some of the dearest characters I’ve encountered in quite a while, and the book’s events made me laugh out loud - and then fight back tears. This author reinforces the themes of acceptance and non-judgement in a uniquely imaginative way. I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time.
