I am a 90s kid so i grew up with the Sonic franchise but i got to say i loves the story line and how they did listen to the fans when the first trailer came out. I am not going to spoil any thing but if there is a sequel this was a great start as an origin story for Sonic and potentially Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and everyone else that has been added since then.
