It's very clear that Maxon is manipulative and abusing. The whole book is just him constantly telling America he loves her then spends his time elsewhere, while still telling her his feelings for the other girls. She doesnt want to be there and he forces her to stay, this happens too many times. I do not recommend this book for teens.
