I’ve been watching this show for 9 seasons and counting . The characters are amazing on this show . I also feel like this is the only pregnancy related show where true to the times back then , pregnancy and birth seems to be a natural life event and not a medical condition in need of treatment . There are so many complicated births and c sections on other shows , it seems like we often forget how babies are supposed to be born as nature intended . There are very few interventions in childbirth on this show . Also, the midwife advisor makes every detail correct , including the fact that the babies here are under two weeks old as opposed to four month olds on other shows The births here are more than just over the top screaming and swearing , it’s more representative of real labouring women. I am looking forward to this year ‘s Christmas special .
I also appreciate this show being available on Youtube / Google Play. I usually rewatch each season at least once . Canadian Netflix removed Call the Midwife last year so I bought season 8 to rewatch on my Youtube linked TV ( and all other devices ) and it is almost as good as watching the DVD minus a few edited out scenes which doesn’t affect the larger plot. This option is also cheaper than the DVDs and there’s no wait time to receive and watch the episodes. Closed Captioning is also available for this show which helps because London accents , you can listen to the sentence three times and still not understand it . .
