Firstly, the specialist system is very stupid and not a very Battlefield-feeling thing. It’s stupid in CoD, so why is it in Battlefield? That kind of thing works well for hero shooters like Overwatch or Valorant, but when the same 10 people are running around killing each other, it takes away from the experience. I was not a huge fan of Battlefield V but it is immensely better than this game, for the sole reason that your player character can be vastly different than someone else’s.
Secondly, 22 weapons? Really? I understand that this game just came out, but that’s a very Activision thing to do. Why wait for updates to add more weapons when they could’ve just been in the game to begin with? Battlefield 4 did that with DLC, but there was a large number of weapons in the game on launch. Disappointing. Also having to press two buttons to throw a grenade? That has to be one of the worst game mechanics in the history of game mechanics. If I need to pop a frag into a room, having to press two buttons seriously hinders a player. Remove that.
Overall, this just doesn’t feel like a Battlefield game. I cannot stress enough how much I hate the specialist system. I didn’t like it in CoD, and it is certainly worse in Battlefield. When I heard about the dynamic weather, i thought I would be seeing tsunamis, flash floods, wildfires etc., not just tornadoes. Dumb. Extremely disappointed with EA/DICE. No doubt they took the specialist system idea from CoD, God knows why. Remove that too.
