A realist story including love, war, grief and the guilt of the writer; portrayed beautifully. Like all famous love stories, it hurts the most in the heart because the protagonists do not have a happy ending. Then, another frustrating thing is the happy ending of the true sinners in the story, Paul Marshall and Lola.
To summarize, has every ingredient of a touching tale. I found it aligned with my emotions somewhere and so I loved it.
PS the performances are commendable, especially Knightley is a delight to behold.
