This is compelling history expressed through a tightly written narrative. The re-construction of history through second and third hand accounts and deductive reasoning is both a feature and an achievement. The book enables Tongerlongeter, previousy written out of history by the 'victors', a voice. The book itself is therefore a quiet expression of resistance embodied by the central character himself. One cannot read this book without an overwhelming sense of tragedy and loss. Thank you for resurrecting his story - we can no longer look away, nor should we.
