I did not have high expectation of the movie after watching the trailer, however, when I came to know that this is going to based on the background of Dhaka, I gave it a shot but got utterly disappointed with the outcome.
To begin with, the film has no plot at all and story development was also very poor. Some people may find the pact action scenes and long shots as wonderful works but if you miss the story then what remains there?
The story begins like this: Bangladeshi drug lord Amir Asif has kidnapped the teenage son (from an Indian bar where he was drinking juice and smoking joints with his other friends!!!) of an Indian drug lord while the Indian drug lord is serving his time in jail and has not enough money to pay for the ransom!
Then, though Bangladeshi drug lord Amir brought the boy in his own country but he has kept him in charge of some teenage slum kids, does it make any sense? Has anyone heard or seen something like this before that you may find child soldiers roaming in the streets of Dhaka with AK-47 rifles, shotguns and other arms?
The way Bangladeshi drug lord Amir took control of the city and locked it down using all the armed forces of a country, it felt like all those forces had one thing to do in the whole world, serving the commands of a drug lord!
The setting of the film takes place in Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh, yet the film completely fails to represent the city, it's people, language and culture except for first few drone shots. Specially all the Bengali dialogues were delivered so poorly that it was obvious that the lead actors hired for Bangladeshi roles were not even from West Bengal! And the written Bengali texts were so horrible to look at, it may hurt many viewers who speak and write Bengali.
Camera works can be appreciated but with all other inconsistencies, one won't enjoy it much longer only because of the visual performance! Randeep Huda acted well besides Chris Hemsworth but his character was not properly developed by the writers.
Netflix could have done a better job if the responsible persons made contact with some notable filmmakers and actors of Bangladesh, the viewers would actually enjoy it then!
