Colin’s experience as a black kid in a mostly white upbringing was not surprising. If it was a white kid in a black family and black community, would it have been vastly different? The outsider. The discrimination he experienced was heart wrenching, but what was really heart wrenching and overshadowed the main story was the portrayal of his parents as idiots. They loved him and did all they could for him as best they knew how. Who paid for all the football camps he had the privilege of going to? He had many opportunities that helped him become who he is today. I wish he had not been shunned by the NFL once he started taking a knee, but he has gone beyond being a QB to have real influence and to do great things.
