This is not a movie. This is a caricature. The name should be changed to “The Emperor Needs More Makeup.” In one of the first scenes when Pesci calls DeNiro “ kid” it is difficult not laugh out loud. When DeNiro beats the grocer that touches his daughter it looks as if he is recovering from a stroke. Both Pesci and DiNiro used to be able to fairly convincingly play guys pretending to be tough guys, now they can’t even convincingly play guys pretending to be pretending to play tough guys.
