As a fan of the classic books, and terrified as a child of all of them, I went in to the theatre to see this movie with high expectations. Not only did this movie disappoint, it was one of the few that I couldn’t bear to sit through. The plot line felt rushed and forced together just to push the stories. The movie would’ve been much more enjoyable if put into the format of an anthology. I was very disappointed. The books provide such potential for a terrifying movie, and even some realistic scenarios to work off of, such as the story “High Beams”. Instead, poor graphics, weak characters and an out of place side plot revolving around Richard Nixon and the Vietnam war left me feeling like I was watching an old episode of goosebumps and not a horror movie. However, it was not all at a loss. I did find myself cringing at the Red Spot scene, and I would recommend this to a first time horror movie watcher.
