The story is good, I liked it. And the movie has good dialogue.
The whole movie is just a shot of Jake Gyllenhaal on his headset, in an attempt to build suspense from his 911 call. It did build suspense, but this got old after a while. They could’ve literally shot the entire movie with 1 singe camera and it wouldn’t have made a difference.
They made a 1.5-hour-long movie and didn’t actually show anything. All we get is Jake Gyllenhaal talking on a call, and we get the voice of the other person on the line. There’s only one other impactful-to-the-story person in the movie that we actually see with our eyes, and he’s not in there much at all.
With the story and the script they had, this movie would’ve been much better if they just showed us more. All we got was the inside of the police department and a short scene of a policeman breaking into a house.
Jake’s acting is very good, but it doesn’t make up for the one enormous problem this movie has.
Story and dialogue I’d give an 8-8.5/10, but overall this movie gets a 6.5/10 because it got boring after a while.
I just don’t think it was a good idea to shoot an entire movie as basically just 1 long scene.
