Oh dear….the lack of passion in Dylan when he interviews or sings obscures the incredible vibrancy of the music of laurel canyon…jades stage persona detracts from the songs as she appears totally disconnected self absorbed whereas the music of this era was totally connected to us at that time….less of Dylan revisiting dispassionately in concert would have led to more if the original performers had been the centre instead of him….the interviews with petty, Nash, , stills and Brian etc from the beach boys really touched my heart and reconnected me to that era….I soared remembering putting a record on and listening over and over and over…I felt nothing watching or hearing Dylan sing it was a crucification of the music rather than an homage…Ringo was a monor player in the music from the canyon so he was more of an intruder than an an asset…..the concept of honouring this era of music is admirable the format distilled the power of the songs of that time …too much bland dull Jacob not enough of the musicians of that era and actually hearing the sounds of their creations that so captured and transported us back the….that music from the canyon was filled with personality this film is bereft of any uplifting delivery of the music…
