I saw this masterpiece back in 1995 and again some years later. Primarily B&W, it works for me. There are some monotonous scenes in the beginning that drone on seemingly for too long. However, they create the mood that was reality in the times depicted. I for one are used to fast paced movies. This is a tone poem with masterful acting. Gary Farmer is most enjoyable as Nobody. He has been in 100 movies! Johnny Depp in the infancy of his great fame. For real movie buffs. I could see it again sometime, maybe. Maybe soon.
