Too alienating for old fans, too confusing for new fans. What's even the point of this game being called a "Remake" when it's clearly not even that? It's also a huge slight, making chapters for one console with the steel book bonus to hold two discs, only to be informed that the next part will be on a brand new console I have no plans to picking up. Even if I did want a PS5, this made me want one even less.
There is just too much unnecessary and boring fluff, when they could have so easily used that effort into making the game go further then Midgar. They could have made it an actual RPG and not an action-fighting one. And they could have kept it all on one console if they didn't put all their budget into making it look "nice" by making it so heavy detailed graphically. I would have preferred if it was more chibi-esque or something less detailed, like Bravely Default.
Regardless, I feel like I wasted my money and time with this remake, and never plan to pick up another chapter ever again. A huge disappointment, really.
