I’ve been watching anime since the 90s, some of my first including the OG anime’s like: Dragon Ball, YuYu HakaSho, Inuyasha, Escaflowne, Evangelion etc. I used to make fun of my roommate in the Marine Corps for watching this back in 2014 & 2015. However I regret that, and my ignorance. I just started watching this last week and finished season 2 as well as the 2 movies. I’ve got to say, I’m both impressed and bereaved. The fight scenes are very exciting and captivating, as well as the skill growth & development. This had much more potential; as season 1 namely “Sword Art Online” arc could’ve been milked MUCH more than it was, ending in 14 episodes, to my astonishment. This could’ve even dragged on properly for 3 seasons perhaps, ending with the perverted Alfheim arc with the brief rescue (don’t want to spoil for those who haven’t seen it). I did like the GGO arc but I think personally as a man of many varieties of anime to my liking, this is a somewhat harem anime- and that’s ok. But mostly how there are 2 MC in this Asuna & Kirito if they put slightly more emphasis on their promises to one another & commitment goals for their life together. Perhaps with the real like PTSD effects and Asuna winning her ritzy family over to her likings, and Kirito earning favor with them, all while he becomes a genius Technological Engineer bringing Yui to real life. Aside from that, they could also have some more character development- not list capability & skill wise, but maturity and emotionally as well, seeing how 6 out of the 8 characters in focus are SAO survivors. Also the pervertness is very unnecessary... gross.
I give a 4.1 out of 5.
