A particularly meaningful read if you grew up in a Catholic family in the 40's and 50's. A young girl sorts through the religious and cultural divide between Catholicism and Hollywood. Her idol Ingrid Bergman is thrust into the middle of this divide, and Jesse's loyalties and morals are tested as she defies her school and family's interest and sets up a firestorm in a debate/extemporaneous competition. Well written and thought-provoking.
