This film give me some insights about directions in life, and freedom of choosing how to respond.
What keeps him hanging on is his awaiting love and a sense of delivery a FedEx package, with a wing symbol on it (represent Hope I guess).
He out to the sea not with a will to survive but a will not to die in that lonely island.
The true meaning comes at the end, when he manage to get back to modern life, he feels lost again, and have to use the strategy which kept him live when cast away.
All you can do is "Keep breathing", and
"Who knows what the next tide might bring?"
The lone island is a metaphor.
This film would sympathize with someone who loss, or some how lose directions in life.
