It's so brilliantly crafted to honor and adore musical theatre while simultaneously poking fun of every real stereotype of the genre. And..... It does it all while making us fall for characters that are archetypes and intensely human at the same time. For those of us that intimately know musicals, there's a wonderful layer of seeing how their best moments are thread carefully into this story. Someone else's review shredded this thought but they are clearly homages AND carefully tongue in cheek references which will hopefully energize people to see the works they're based on. There is so much talent and energy that went into this and it's exactly what we need right now. PLEASE give it a second season.... Whether it was never intended or not, I could binge this again and again and I want to see more of what happens to these people.
