When I first saw Transformers: Prime when the show came out, i really liked it. However, i have to say that i didn't really like it as much. I will give credit in that the animation, voice actors, and music were pretty good. Thats about it for the positives, the biggest problem of the show for me was how dull the characters were. The characters of Prime came off as watered down versions of their counterparts in other shows characters. Optimus was a dull version of himself which is saying something considering he never was that deep of a character. However some shows like Armada hinted that he liked war and fighting and Animated made the character an inexperienced leader. Even in G1 he had a warm and even friendly quality of him which has been lacking since the 2007 movie. Prime's version of the character is just a preacy and watered down version of himself. Bumblebee follows his movie self in that he is mute. I actually found the movie's version of the character more expressive since he used radio clips and i actually got more personality out of him than Prime's version. Then at the shows finale he got his voice back and i found him a more likable character. Arcee came off as a duller version of Animated's Prowl and Bulkhead was a duller version of his Animated self. Megatron came off as a crazier version of himself and i much preferred the more tactical versions from Beast Wars/Machines, Armada, Animated, and even G1 version (even if he kept retreating all the time). Heck even the movies version was more intimidating. I actually found Silas and his MECH organization more threatening since they actually almost defeated the Transformers a few times in the show (and even dissected a Decepticon and used its body later on). As an aside, most Decpticons were these generic drones that are as tough as aluminum foil so when the Autobots went to battle i rarely felt like they were in any danger. I will say that Ratchet was pretty fun (even if again he is a watered down verion of his Animated self), and Starscream and Knockout were pretty fun especially when they had screen-time together. The human characters were a mixed bag, Jack and Raf were kinda bland but serviceable. Also Raf is the stereotypical kid with an Eisenstein level intellect. Fowler i liked since he was someone who could be funny one minute then intimidating the next. However Miko i did not care for at all. Her humor was pretty annoying especially when she makes a joke in a serious situation. Also she would break the rules by coming with the Autobots (specifically Bulkhead), then get rewarded by being allowed to join the Autobots even though shes like 12. While shes not as bad as Kicker Jones from Energon, i can't say i'm sad she was never in 2015's Robots in Disguise. If i haven't mentioned any other characters its probably because i found them too dull or uninteresting to remember them. I will even say that for as much praise as Prime gets, its plots are taken from other Transformers shows. These includes the hunt for various Cybertronian weapons and Starscream's wavering loyalty taken from Armada, the Omega lock and Cyber Planet Keys taken from Cybertron (the show not the planet, although they did come from Cybertron the planet), a reckless rookie character who is unsure if he should be leader from G1 and Armada, and Unicron's blood as a power source taken from the Japanese Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo. So while i get why my younger self liked the show since it felt like a darker and more mature version of the Transformers, now in retrospect i find myself preferring the other shows in the franchise (barring Energon and maybe 2015 Robots in Disguise).
