One thing you have to keep in mind while watching this movie is this: Val Kilmer is an actor. The true irony is you still spend the entire movie wondering how much of this is real and what isn’t. Who is the real Val Kilmer? As a viewer you need to look behind the actor and try and see what the camera’s presenting and consider the clips he chose to show and what wasn’t shown. The fact that he most likely suffers from some kind of hoarding disorder is clear by the warehouse of memorabilia and the state of his home. It’s also clear he is a perfectionist from things he says and what others say. But who is the real person? I think that even the actor doesn’t know. As he spent his entire life filming himself, hiding behind the parts he played and the image of the celebrity he sold to the studios. I find this film to be fascinating is what it showed and how it was filmed and I can only imagine the work it took to go through the thousands of hours of old films to take less then one hour to make the film. Hats down to the production crew as well.
