As a lover of superhero/supervillain movies, I was excited when I saw the trailer for BOP.
This isn’t a Birds Of Prey movie. This is a Harley Quinn movie.
The first half of the film almost made me walk out. It was messy and nonsensical, and not in the endearing way.
The second half had a bit more bulk to it, where I actually felt like there was a point to the movie. But still it was tainted by bad writing and confusing character choices.
The new characters introduced deserved fleshing out; they had complex backstories which would have been much more interesting than the nothingness in the first half.
The costume and set design was flawless. I loved the fight scenes, even if the camera work seemed strange at times.
In short, I think DC were far more interested in creating memorable quotes for Harley Quinn and exploiting the audiences unconditional love for her, rather than making a good movie.
