Well, what can I say. This movie was absolutely awesome. In fact, I would rate it as one of the best Netflix films that I have ever seen. A very well written comedy/ drama about a young lady who had a fatal accident only to find herself with a second chance to correct her ways.
While I was not too familiar with any of the names in the cast, the acting was brilliant, which was clearly manifested in some of the emotional scenes. I was quite touched, even to the point of having a tear brought to my eyes.
Victoria Justice was sensational as "Cassie" - the outgoing, extraverted personality who had no problem being the centre of attention. Equally as good was Madori Francis as "Lisa" who was totally the opposite to Cassie. Lisa was the introverted, shy type who was more concerned with work and life's responsibilities. However, despite their differences, Cassie and Lisa had a very strong emotional bond.
Then there was Robyn Scott's character "Val" - Cassie's Guardian Angel, who didn't mind the odd joke while she always tried to keep Cassie focussed. The supporting roles from Adam Garcia (Howie), Gloria Garcia (Sofia) who played Cassie's separated parents and Timothy Renouf (Max) were also very good. To top it off, the short music video clip of Spencer Sutherland and his co-dancers was something different, but quite effective.
For anyone who enjoys a good plot with plenty of humour on the way, this film is a must see. In my opinion, it doesn't deserve anything less than 5 stars. I could easily watch it 3 or 4 times over and be just as absorbed with each viewing.
In summary, this movie demonstrated how significant and meaningful the importance of strong emotional ties to family and friends really is.
Well done ..... "Afterlife of the Party".
