Genuinely a wonderful, funny show. I rarely laugh at shows or movies anymore but I laughed often in this one. The last season was so compelling and absolutely did the rest of the series justice. In this show I laughed, I cried, and I was perched on the end of my seat. Definitely a favourite that I’d rewatch.

While I will admit there were a few moments (notably in the cave when the blackleg told them he was late to cook dinner for his wife) where there was some blatant disregard for historical accuracy and some moments that it takes multiple rewatches to inference the significance of what or why something happened, I really enjoyed the movie. There are interesting sound tracks and camera angles, and I found the film to be witty and fun. Despite the fact that I feel more fact-checking should have been done, I believe the actors worked hard and produced something rather enjoyable. Critically speaking, there were a lot of mistakes made, but it still remains one of my favourite movies.

The choice to film only as far as the book was very smart. The series successfully used many literary devices and the narrator, Lemony Snicket, was a fantastic way to keep the audience intrigued and add to the dramatic irony. The series was done absolutely beautifully and leaves the audience satisfied knowing that the story has followed its arc.
