So far, it isn't horrible, but not really anything wholesome like one would think it might be. It steers away from the books by great lengths. Considering that Nancy Drew was a clean cut girl who liked to solve mysteries in the books, this is not the same character at all. Most who read the Nancy Drew books are girls between the ages of 11 to 15. And I would think that this show would have been an attraction to them, as well as those of us who read the books when we were kids. One would think then, that this would be a show that has a "wholesome" element. But nope. I guess I didn't appreciate that one of the first scenes was Nancy having casual sex with Ned, a person she barely knows. In fact, it's like you get the idea that Nancy does this kind of thing all the time if she finds some guy a fun thing. I've never had a picture of Nancy Drew ever being some flamboyant, rebellious, disrespectful person. And yet, this is how she is portrayed in this series. To me, this is yet another television show where Hollywood tries to push off a "Me, too" agenda onto its audience. Mixed race relationships, casual sex for fun is okay, all families are dysfunctional, etc. Again, this show will probably be more appealing to a younger girl audience and I just don't think it sends out messages that are appropriate for that age group.
