I’m worried if this is held up as a “must watch” for teenage kids and their parents. It gives such a ridiculously wrong portrayal of how schools, teachers and police deal with sexting and other criminal issues. The writers obviously didn’t bother to do their homework (like- do you really think teachers would poke around on child porn websites willy nilly?) Also, the characters are poorly written on hackneyed stereotyped (the lesbian parents who have raised a strong feminist daughter, telling her to just ignore this, there’s nothing you can do... ??). And that the school would really call a meeting with victim, perpetrator and entire families- laughable! I would hate any kid to think this is what might happen. The school would talk to the victim (alone/ with nominated support person) and notify police and child protection straight away. If the writer/ director had reflected this, then it could truly have been a gripping, entertaining and worthy production. The actors are good (especially the teenagers, who are brilliant). Shame.
