Terrible. I really like Natalie Dormer, but I don’t know what she was thinking. I understand she probably thought it would really showcase her skills, but the writing was bad.
They could have done so much more with Sante Muerte, and really brought back in that spooky religious aspect that S1 had throughout. More paranormal incidents. More clearly good vs. evil with humans in the thick of it. They still could have woven in actual historical events and gotten across the prejudices. Why call it Penny Dreadful if you’re not going to have some tiny thread, like mood and religious aspects, woven into the story?
