I really enjoyed this movie, I loved the atmosphere it created being filmed on location in Ireland. I understand why some people didn't like it, bit if you are a fan of Eggers and "the witch" or " the lighthouse" there is a good chance you will enjoy "the northman" .

The thing that absolutely ruined this movie for me is that every shot in this film the camera is slowly panning left or right , up or down like the camera was on a drone or sitting on a waterbed. I understand some shots could be done this way but there's way too many and it got on my nerves. Lol.

Overall it wasn't too bad... SPOILERS oh I'm sorry, as police officers looking for your daughter we overlooked searching the one and only building on the entire property. The door had a lock on it so we thought, oh we better not go in there! If this was real the police sheriff would be fired immediately. However the twist at the end was pretty good. Didn't see it coming. Worth a watch

I loved this movie. It has everything I enjoy to make a good horror movie, intrigue, atmosphere, score, and the cinematography was gorgeous, reminded me of growing up in BC , within the first minute I guessed it was filmed in squamish BC,.but it was filmed in Hope BC,. I was close. The director did everything right in this movie to make it seem real, with the exception of the crickets and frogs sounds in the last scene. You wouldn't hear these sounds at night in that climate. I never did growing up there. But definitely a great eerie movie that kept me hooked, if you like a slow burn with stunning visuals you'll like this film.

For this movie is a classic, one I could watch over and over and i watch at least once every 3 to 4 months. Great on location backdrop, great acting, storytelling and the perfect balance of humour and intrigue. I love the cold atmosphere the movie pulls you into and its ability to take to Minnestota. "Go bears!"
