This movie isn’t the movie we wanted, but rather the movie we deserved. Sure, we didn’t need the musical numbers but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Arthur Fleck is a mentally disturbed individual who needs help. He thinks that Harley Quinn is his other half, but she thinks the “real him” is Joker and she shares his madness. That’s why it’s a “folie a deux” which translates to shared madness or madness of two. In the end, Arthur says himself he’s not the joker, but we find out who really is the maniacal psychopath with the crazy laugh and wicked smile. 🃏

I went to a all male boarding, military school, and moments like the ones in this movie (without the Shakespearean theme) definitely existed. This was a reimagining of the classic love story. I, personally, loved this.

Cinematically, BPWF was beautifully appealing and artfully crafted. The storyline had both expected and unexpected moments, good and not as favorable. They went with a story to help bridge us into a new era of the BP series. While I felt the storyline was all over the place, I think it was a story we needed in order to move forward. In my opinion, it was a bit too sad, full of too much loss, and actually a darker theme for a Marvel movie, however, that's not a bad thing, just unexpected. Dr. Strange was also a bit darker but I think that's where they are taking us, and it's an adjustment. Additionally, it may have been the particular format I watched BPWF in (Dolby), but I found it very difficult to see the nighttime land/water scenes. The lighting was either off, or my eyes are failing me. I doubt the latter.

Stop listening to the overly critical Rotten Tomatoes. This movie was fantastic. Excellent special effects, incredible action sequences, and a compelling character you love to see. It gives us just what we needed, but leaves room for a deeper back story and more. A sequel is sure to come! I would see it again!
