Such a high budget, they chose failure with their lazy writers.
The ending was soooo boring that it almost built up suspense, but ultimately nothing even happened. The only thing that even changed was the Queen’s outfit. And I checked to see both my kids were asleep by the time she came out wearing different clothes.
It could have been better:
- The pocketwatch could have broke in the past so Red and Chloe were forced to work to fix it.
- No overly long songs. It felt like watching a school play and was a chore to get through.
- They could have shown the actual event of homecoming and the moment that changed history forever. They each could have had a father-daughter dance moment while trying to stop the evil prank from unfolding.
- They could have given Maleficient and Hades actual lines not just have them as extras.
- And most of all, just let Cameron Boyce rest peacefully instead of saying “It’s what Cameron wanted” have some respect for him and his family instead of turning him into another one of your stories.
Overall, I think the film had potential to be a soulful children’s story about anti-bullying and staying true to one's character in the face of adversity and bullying, but instead they chose to fail.
