Finally, a complex, wise and engaging older woman as main character! The book is beautifully written. I learned a lot about Beirut and about world literature as I read this little gem of a book.

I loved "The Goldfinch" once I got over its lengthy descriptions and interrupted insights. It is a beautiful book about beauty and serendipity and hurt and courageous people. This is a book that I want to keep on my shelf and refer to whenever life and art start losing their luster.
