This is an amazing movie. The gorgeous visuals blew me away and the story is simple to understand and yet, it is still able to touch your heart and make you understand the story from the protagonist's point of view. You could say, it gave off the same vibes as 'I Want To Eat Your Pancreas', which is not an anime made by Makoto Shinkai but one I personally liked because it is pretty similar to Weathering With You. So, if you liked that movie, you would most likely like Weathering With You I actually liked this more than 'Your Name' as to me, 'Your Name' was completely unrelatable to me as a person and the plot can be quite confusing at times. However, that's not to say that I hated 'Your Name', it was a good movie with a good plot but I just didn't really get it and it l felt like the movie held no significance to me at the end. Back to Weathering With You, I think I would definitely be buying the DVD to watch this masterpiece over and over again. If you aren't big fan of romance movies with more of a story about the bonding and experiencing the protagonist's adventures together, this movie definitely won't leave you with a strong urge to watch it again or make you cry like it did. I liked the way Makoto depicted more of a romance than a personal adventure theme like in 'Your Name' Overall, it comes down to what genre of movies you like. If you like more of an adventure movie where the protagonist's bond throughout it, This will def leave you crying at the end. But if you prefer a movie where the protagonist's adventure on their own and fall in love near the middle of the movie, you won't find that this movie surpasses 'Your Name'.
