Awful and here's why -
The characters are not remarkable, spectacular, or interesting in any special way.
The film has no point. The uninteresting characters do not evolve, change, or otherwise reveal anything that enhances the film. The story is not common enough for most to relate to, and not special enough to be unique or completely original.
The movie literally ends where it started off - and with no rational explanation. While I've seen some mention that this film was about particular challenges in life, or is a metaphor for hopelessness, this reasoning falls flat. The protagonist is offered several opportunities and paths to a better life, and for unknown reasons refuses them all to maintain their dire situation which, by the way, is never made to feel very dire or too far away from rescue.
The film was begging for attention out of the gate, its entire advertising strategy was to claim to be an award winning classic praised around the world to an audience (the actual world) that had never even heard of it. While this was a red flag to me, I still wanted to like the film.
But, this film has no action, drama, love, or even a plot twist. It's stale and stagnant throughout, absent of a climax, or even a subject around which to build a meaningful story.
Very thumbs down.
