It started out pretty decent. A few spoilers ahead.
It had a good, strong start, that kept up the pace for a good chunk of the movie, but when the entity started talking, it lost me. I know they needed it to, but they could have done without that cheap demonic voice. Not to mention, when she went to see the man in prison, the scene wasn’t as intense for me as it seemed to be for others. It felt cheap, and forced. After awhile, the entity stopped being scary, and I didn’t know why she wasn’t laughing at it.
The movie overall was pretty average and generic. It’s following a trend that seems to have taken over Hollywood. Way too long with little to no lore on what the entity is. The ending started out strong, with a finale I was hoping for, but ultimately ended exactly how I thought it would, basically ruining my chances of rewatching it.
By the end of the movie, the only thing I could think of standing out was when it took over her body, a couple of unsettling scenes, and how hard they tried to refrain from much CGI. I can see how people might find this movie creepy, and rate it so high, but I personally can’t. It felt like every other horror movie that’s been coming out today, and unfortunately, that’s a trend in Hollywood. First it was monster movies, then it was slashers, next it was found footage, and now it’s strange entities who apparently have nothing better to do than go from person to person.
